Agriculture is the most important sector of the African economy, accounting for about 35% of the continent’s gross domestic product and providing the livelihood of more than 50% of the continent’s population. The current geopolitical landscape and climatic events are gravely impacting African continent’s food system. Women engaged in agriculture have particularly borne the brunt of systemic challenges postulated by an unfavourable care economy.
