In times of crisis, we believe in more than just immediate relief—we focus on dealing with the root causes of emergencies while enabling affected communities to rebuild their lives. Our humanitarian action seamlessly integrates humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding efforts.
By empowering local leadership and prioritizing the needs and voices of the most vulnerable people, particularly refugees, internally displaced persons, and women and girls, we aim to promote more equitable and sustainable humanitarian outcomes.
Our Focus Areas
In the Kaya internally displaced persons site, in Burkina Faso, Oxfam and ATAD teams organized awareness-raising sessions for more than 100 people on the importance of managing water points. (Photo: Samuel Turpin/Oxfam)
We ensure well-resourced and timely response to crises. At the core of our humanitarian response remains emergency food security (EFS), water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and protection.

By linking humanitarian actions to longer-term impacts, we ensure that the benefits of humanitarian responses are sustained, and people’s lives are rebuilt.

We are committed to reshaping the humanitarian systems to make them more efficient and fair. By challenging oppressive power structures and promoting a feminist approach, we make sure women and girls are protected and empowered. We champion and invest in local leadership, and respect local knowledge and leadership of communities.
