We promote a continent where women and girls reclaim their rights and live with dignity, free from discrimination and violence.
A dignified life free from gender-based discrimination and violence is a basic human right that underlies human progress and equality. The realization and protection of women’s equal rights must be seen as fundamental to achieving all other goals of human development and social justice. Women’s rights are not just an issue of fairness but a prerequisite for sustainable progress across economic, political and social domains. Thus, women’s equal rights are the foundation upon which inclusive, resilient and just societies are built.

By 2030, we hope that:
- The Maputo Protocol is ratified and implemented in most African countries.
- Unpaid care and domestic work are recognized, reduced and redistributed. We support and join well-resourced continental coalitions that actively campaign for the dismantling of patriarchal norms and practices.
- The 30-year review of the Beijing Platform for Action includes contributions from Oxfam and its allies.
- Rigorous application of a gender lens to all internal processes and policies.
